Guardian Automotive is the newest company in the auto glass industry to recycle windscreens. Purchasers of 4 of the company's distribution centers can return damaged windshields to Guardian to be recycled.
"We are delighted about our new green initiative," says Scott Billings, director of distribution operations for Guardian Auto. "Windshield recycling is a win / win we're doing the right thing for the environment by keeping windshields out of landfills and we are helping our customers scale back their waste costs."
The company plans to expand the programme to the other eight distribution centres later this year. The four centres currently participating are Detroit, Cincinnati, Findlay and Atlanta.
"We've received a large amount of good feedback from our customers," claims Billings. "Once we put the new boxes out and communicated with our purchasers, we right away started seeing damaged windshields being returned.".
